15   In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;
chalowm²⁴⁷² chizzayown²³⁸⁴ layil³⁹¹⁵ tardemah⁸⁶³⁹ naphal⁵³⁰⁷ 'enowsh⁵⁸² tnuwmah⁸⁵⁷² mishkab⁴⁹⁰⁴

16   Then he openeth the ears of men, and sealeth their instruction,
galah¹⁵⁴⁰ 'ozen²⁴¹ 'enowsh⁵⁸² chatham²⁸⁵⁶ mocar⁴⁵⁶¹

17   That he may withdraw man from his purpose, and hide pride from man.
cuwr⁵⁴⁹³ 'adam¹²⁰ ma`aseh⁴⁶³⁹ kacah³⁶⁸⁰ gevah¹⁴⁶⁶ geber¹³⁹⁷

18   He keepeth back his soul from the pit, and his life from perishing by the sword.
chasak²⁸²⁰ nephesh⁵³¹⁵ shachath⁷⁸⁴⁵ chay²⁴¹⁶ `abar⁵⁶⁷⁴ shelach⁷⁹⁷³

19   He is chastened also with pain upon his bed, and the multitude of his bones with strong pain:
yakach³¹⁹⁸ mak'ob⁴³⁴¹ mishkab⁴⁹⁰⁴ rob⁷²³⁰ `etsem⁶¹⁰⁶ 'eythan³⁸⁶

20   So that his life abhorreth bread, and his soul dainty meat.
chay²⁴¹⁶ zaham²⁰⁹² lechem³⁸⁹⁹ nephesh⁵³¹⁵ ta'avah⁸³⁷⁸ ma'akal³⁹⁷⁸

21   His flesh is consumed away, that it cannot be seen; and his bones that were not seen stick out.
basar¹³²⁰ kalah³⁶¹⁵ ro'iy⁷²¹⁰ `etsem⁶¹⁰⁶ ra'ah⁷²⁰⁰ shaphah⁸¹⁹²

22   Yea, his soul draweth near unto the grave, and his life to the destroyers.
nephesh⁵³¹⁵ qarab⁷¹²⁶ shachath⁷⁸⁴⁵ chay²⁴¹⁶ muwth⁴¹⁹¹

23   If there be a messenger with him, an interpreter, one among a thousand, to shew unto man his uprightness:
yesh³⁴²⁶ mal'ak⁴³⁹⁷ luwts³⁸⁸⁷ 'echad²⁵⁹ 'eleph⁵⁰⁵ nagad⁵⁰⁴⁶ 'adam¹²⁰ yosher³⁴⁷⁶
